Tim Gradnik receives the “CIGRE Plaque” for his contribution to the development of transformer diagnostics
27. May, 2025Tim Gradnik is this year's recipient of the CIGRE Plaque award presented to him by the Slovenian CIGRE Association – CIRED for his contribution to the development of transformer diagnostics and his long-standing cooperation in the domestic and international professional community.
As part of the Department of Physical-Chemical Transformer Diagnostics Department at EIMV, Tim Gradnik focuses on technical and research challenges related to the operation and diagnostics of transformers. His findings contribute to improvements in practice that are applied by both manufacturers and users of transformers. By being involved for many years in the work of the domestic and international CIGRE association within the A2 (transformers) and D1 (materials and diagnostics) study committees, as well as expert communities within SIST IEC, IEEE ICDL, ICTRAM and ISH, he actively participates in the preparation of contributions, exchange of experiences, and organisation of professional events. He also worked as the secretary of the international CIGRE A2 study committee. For his work, he has received the prestigious Technical Council Award and Distinguished Member Award from the international CIGRE. Another important area of his work is leading the CIGRE A2.60 Dynamic thermal behaviour of transformers working group and encouraging young people to get involved in international professional activities.
