Students learning about innovation in the energy sector

18, Sep, 2019

For the eighth time, the EIMV, ELES, GEN energija and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering organised Elektrofest intended for promotion of literacy in the energy sector among the youth.

Four sets of content were prepared for more than four hundred students, who learned about the areas of work of the companies or institutions organising the event.

EIMV experts informed the students about the SCALAR system that records lightning strikes and about the application of data in the management and protection of systems and facilities, exposed to the effects of atmospheric discharges.
ELES experts presented the electric power grids of the future that will base on a variety of generation sources, flexible use, active consumers and several types of energy storage facilities. Students of faculties in Ljubljana who work together in the Superior Engineering team, presented an e-driven race care they have constructed and which they use at international competitions. The race car was exhibited in the courtyard of ELES business building.

GEN energija company presented the operations of nuclear power plants, students were also able to test their skills as Krško Nuclear Power Plant operators.

The Faculty of Electrical Engineering enabled attendants to play a computer game and try their skills as playing the roles of devices that impact the operations of the electric power system. During the game, they were able to learn about the difficulty rate of maintaining an appropriate electric voltage frequency in random events and they also competed.

We look forward to the ninth Elektrofest, where we convey our knowledge to young students.
