The Milan Vidmar Electric Power Research Institute constantly monitors the market in electric power industry and strives to adapt to the market situation. Thus, the institute has responded to the trend of increasing the number of HV cables and the needs for testing by purchasing the mobile resonant test systems for HV cables. The system was primarily used to test 10 kV cables. Subsequently, an upgrade in collaboration with the system producer was implemented. Currently, the EIMV can test the voltages and measure various parameters also on 400 kV cables. This voltage level thus ranks us among the rare European owners of resonant test systems for high voltage cables to maximum 400 kV rated voltage.
