EIMV led the preparation of a comprehensive expert assessment of repair work, tests, and upgrades, and contributed to the safe start of the power plant's 35th operating cycle
31. Oct, 2025Between September 28 and October 28, 2025, regular maintenance with fuel replacement took place at the Krško Nuclear Power Plant (NEK). As the project leader, the Milan Vidmar Electric Power Research Institute managed and coordinated the preparation of a comprehensive expert assessment of the outage, interventions, tests, and upgrades carried out during the power plant shut-down. In doing so, EIMV has once again confirmed its key role in ensuring the professional independence, safety, and reliability of electrical energy systems.
Authorized organisations (EKONERG, FER, FS, IE, IJS, IMK, and IV) also made a significant contribution to the successful completion of the RE25 outage. Together, we assessed that the outage was carried out with a high degree of professionalism, responsibility, and dedication. It is particularly important to emphasise consistent compliance with safety rules – the foundation on which we build a shared culture of safety, reliability, and long-term success.
During the shut-down of the NEK, EIMV's expert teams performed a series of demanding diagnostic measurements on high-voltage equipment and on the voltage regulation systems of auxiliary diesel generators. We also performed diagnostic inspections of the lightning protection and grounding systems of the power plant. By performing demanding diagnostic and testing tasks, EIMV has consolidated its position as one of the key professional partners in ensuring the safe and reliable operation of nuclear energy in Slovenia.
At the start of the 35th operating cycle, we believe that NEK – with the support and expertise of EIMV – will continue to operate reliably, safely, and successfully in the future.
