EIMV Joins the INNO-TREC Horizon Project to Advance Renewable Energy Communities
10. Dec, 2025EIMV is proud to announce its participation in the INNO-TREC Horizon Europe project, launching in January 2026. The project will be coordinated by the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP) and has been awarded €5.4 million by the European Commission.
INNO-TREC aims to empower Renewable Energy Communities (RECs): groups of citizens, companies, or local authorities that collectively generate local, clean, and decarbonised energy through shared photovoltaic installations.
These communities, which produce, consume, and share 100% renewable energy, are central to Europe’s vision for a cleaner, more democratic, and sustainable energy system. Yet, citizens and organizations seeking to establish or manage a REC face significant challenges, including complex legal procedures, technical barriers, high costs, and a lack of reliable tools to support the deployment and operation of community photovoltaic systems — the most widely adopted technology within RECs.
By addressing these challenges, INNO-TREC will pave the way for a new generation of more efficient, inclusive, and sustainable energy communities, directly contributing to Europe’s goals of carbon neutrality and the democratisation of the energy system.
