EIMV at AMI – Cables Europe 2026 Conference
11. Mar, 2026Elektroinštitut Milan Vidmar (EIMV) participated in the international conference AMI – Cables Europe 2026, held in Düsseldorf, Germany. The conference brings together leading experts from the power cable industry and serves as an important platform for the exchange of knowledge on technological developments, manufacturing practices, and quality assurance in cable systems.
As part of the technical programme, Dr. Simon Podkoritnik delivered a presentation entitled “Lessons from Practice on Typical Cable Factory Areas for Improvement and Why Audits are Important.” The presentation was based on EIMV’s practical experience in laboratory testing of power cables, conducting audits of cable manufacturing facilities, and performing quality assurance oversight of testing laboratories.
The presentation highlighted several key areas where opportunities for improvement commonly arise in cable manufacturing. These include personnel competence, traceability of production processes, effective documentation management, proper calibration of measurement equipment, and a systematic approach to the verification of insulation materials and other cable system components.
Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of comprehensive and systematic quality assurance throughout the entire life cycle of a cable system—from manufacturing and laboratory testing to installation and commissioning. Such an approach enables the early identification of potential non-conformities and contributes significantly to the long-term reliability and performance of power cable systems.
Through its participation in international professional events, EIMV continues to strengthen its position as a recognized expert partner in testing, quality assurance, and the development of reliable solutions for modern power infrastructure.
