EIMV actively participated in the 28th traditional expert conference of Association of Ecological Movements of Slovenia

May, 2025The Milan Vidmar Electric Power Research Institute participated as co-organizer at the 28th expert conference of the Association of Ecological Movements of Slovenia (ZEG), entitled Slovenian Environmental Modernization and Green Transition – Is the Green Transition in the EU Running Out of Steam? was held on 10 and 11 April 2025 in Moravske Toplice.
The event brought together more than 170 experts, researchers, politicians, industry representatives, and non-governmental organizations to discuss key challenges for sustainable development in Slovenia. The expert consultation comprised four thematic panels:
- waste management or resource management,
- efficient energy use of waste,
- climate change and the circular economy,
- environmental communication in the public sphere and new forms of communication.
Dr Rudi Vončina led a panel on climate change and the circular economy, which highlighted Slovenia's strategic directions for strengthening and adapting to climate change in the field of electricity grids, the challenges of mitigating and adapting to climate change in urban environments, an overview of climate change in Slovenia over the past decades and expectations for the future, an in-depth analysis of climate change in agriculture over the past two years, and a presentation on the importance of sustainable reporting for obtaining financial resources in line with the European taxonomy and the requirements of commercial and institutional banks.
