EIMV actively co-designs the future of nuclear energy at the ENES 2025 Conference

21. Oct, 2025

The Milan Vidmar Electric Power Research Institute actively participated at the European ENES 2025 Conference – Europe Nuclear Energy & SMR Conference, which took place in Prague on 14 and 15 October.

The conference centred on a dynamic panel discussion entitled: Reviving Nuclear in Europe: Securing Public Trust, Lifting Bans and Keeping the Lights On, which addressed key issues concerning the future of nuclear energy in Europe.

Dr Simon Podkoritnik, Head of the High Voltage and Power Plants Department, was also part of this important discussion. As one of the panelists, he contributed expert insight into the development of the electricity grid and the role of nuclear energy in ensuring long-term reliability of electricity supply.

The panel highlighted the importance of the strategic positioning of nuclear power plants in the future electricity system, the need for technological development and the integration of innovative solutions, the challenges of ensuring a suitably qualified professional workforce, and the importance of restoring public confidence in nuclear energy as a safe and sustainable choice.

The debate clearly showed that the revival of nuclear energy is not just a technical issue of reliable supply, but also a social and political challenge that requires knowledge, open communication, modern infrastructure, and a clear vision of Europe's energy future.

By participating in the ENES 2025 Conference, EIMV has once again confirmed its role as a leading professional institution that actively contributes to the development of a safe, sustainable, and reliable energy future with its knowledge, experience, and international presence.
