Connected for the future: contribution by EIMV and Dr Uroš Kerin at the Austria-Slovenia Business Forum

On October 23, 2025, the business forum "Austria – Slovenia: Connected for the Future" took place in Vienna, organised by SPIRIT Slovenia. The event brought together nearly 300 representatives from the business community, research institutions, and diplomatic circles of both countries, highlighting the importance of cross-border cooperation in the transition to a sustainable and innovative future.

Particular attention was drawn to the panel on the role of hydrogen in the energy transition, which included Dr Uroš Kerin, Director of the Milan Vidmar Electric Power Research Institute (EIMV). Together with representatives of leading Slovenian and Austrian organisations, he spoke about the development of hydrogen technologies, infrastructure challenges, and the key role of public policies in accelerating the green transition.

The panelists emphasised that progress in the field of hydrogen is only possible through close cooperation between science, industry, and decision-makers, as well as by raising public awareness about its safe use. By bringing together experts, knowledge, and experience, Slovenia and Austria have the potential to become an important part of the Central European hydrogen ecosystem.
