4th Conference on Maintenance

19, Nov, 2018

The 4th Conference on Maintenance organised annually by the Slovenian CIGRE CIRED Association, took place on 15 November 2018 in Nova Gorica. The conference programme comprised the following:

  • Set 1: Technical regulations, standards, impacts on electric power quality
  • Set 2: Maintenance – theory, optimisation and terminology
  • Set 3: Maintenance of production electric power plants
  • Set 4: Maintenance of portable electric power devices
  • Set 5: Maintenance of distribution electric power devices.

Our associates also attended the conference: director Dr. Boris Žitnik and Dr. Stane Vižintin managed Sets 1 and 4, Ivo Kobal, Peter Osenčič and Vojta Vuga presented their paper entitled "New Methods for Preventive Control with Gas and Isolated Switchgears (GIS), Rok Leskovec cooperated as the co-author of the paper "Diagnostics in Production Companies".

The conference was attended by more than 150 experts. The conclusion of Set 1 should be emphasised: The area of technical regulations in Slovenia lag behind the technological development of the electric power system along with the demanding introduction of new technologies and procedures. Experts should more actively participate in the preparation of technical regulations and the CIGRE/CIRED Association should take over a more active role. The conclusion of Set 2 was also important, i.e. that the maintenance optimisation is of great assistance to the management of companies in the decision making about the implementation programme and its scope. The conclusion of Set 3, i.e. that the use of advanced methods in the establishment of the status of devices in combination with the current maintenance by time can significantly shorten the times of device failures, is also very important. Within the scope of Set 4, it was found that the introduction of innovative diagnostic methods should be introduced in the preventive maintenance programme and that data, collected with the IS Maxim system present a good basis for calculating the index of the condition of devices. Set 5 resulted in various conclusions, i.e. new technologies in the maintenance of distribution electric power devices were mentioned, such as the use of drones that require new knowledge and experience, causing new tasks for the maintenance staff.
