Stane Vižintin was born on 14 January 1959 in Ljubljana, where he visited the elementary and secondary school. He studied at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Ljubljana and graduated in 1983 from Industrial Electrical Technology. After military service he was employed in 1984 at the Milan Vidmar Electric Power Research Institute, where he cooperated at measurements on electric power buildings already during the course of his studies.

He cooperates in the research work at the High Voltage Department. The main activities of this department are: the control of high voltage facilities isolation, network surge measurements, work at high voltage laboratory, introducing IT in work processes, automation of measuring procedures, computer simulation of surge phenomena, selection of technology and takeovers of high voltage devices, lightning and lightning protection analysis, isolation coordination, overhead power line technology, cooperation in the construction of electric power facilities and technical examinations.

For many years he assisted in laboratory exercises that were organised within the scope of the High Voltage Technology course. He also obtained a professional examination in the field of electric power. At the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Ljubljana, he got his master's degree in 1999. He is a member of SLOKO CIGRÉ and a secretary of SC A3, as well as a member of IEEE and CIGRÉ international associations. Within the scope of CIGRÉ, he is also an observer of SC A3. He actively cooperates with the Slovenian Standardisation Institute, where he is a member of several technical boards.
