Activities of the Electric Power System Control and Operation Dept. are:
1. Analyses of dynamic and stationary states and control of the electric power system:
- stationary, dynamic and transient stability analyses,
- security analyses of the electric power system,
- analyses of frequency and voltage breakdowns,
- active and reactive power control or frequency and voltage control in power plants and in the overall electric power system.
2. Short-circuit analyses and electric power system protection:
- analysis of short circuits in individual parts of the electric power system,
- analyses and concepts of protection systems.
3. Reliability, quality and economic efficiency of electric power system operation:
- operation analyses,
- analysis of reliability and event statistics,
- analysis of customer power supply quality,
- analysis of power quality.
4. Development of operation, control and maintenance of the electric power system on the production, transmission and distribution level and solving of pending issues in the areas of:
- development of operation, control and maintenance of production, transmission and distribution systems,
- solving of pending issues of operation, control and maintenance of production, transmission and distribution systems,
- solving of operational issues of industrial power systems.
5. Development, introduction and operation of the electricity market:
- technical and market characteristics of hydro and thermal power plants of the Slovenian electric power system,
- analysis of operational possibilities and power demand meeting on the internal electricity market,
- elaboration of strategies and taking decisions regarding operations in the primary electricity market,
- consulting services for electric power utilities and other subjects taking part in the electricity market with regard to development, introduction and operation of the electricity market.
6. Preliminary work, professional advising, supervision and checking, professional-technical examinations and issuance of professional assessments and expertises in development and construction of secondary systems of the electric power system for:
- control systems,
- regulation systems,
- automation of the overall electric power system and its individual parts,
- protection systems,
- measuring systems.
7. Development, design and construction of information systems, databases and applicable software to meet the needs of electric power utilities and other participants in the electricity market:
- development and construction of information systems and databases,
- development and implementation of applicable software,
- adoption and implementation of quality assurance programs in construction and operation of control systems of the electric power system and information systems of individual electric power utilities.
8. Acquisition and presentation of data about atmospheric discharges and their analysis for the interested parties:
- recording, archiving and presentation of data about atmospheric discharges
- on-line correlation of outages of middle-voltage overhead power lines caused by lightning stokes, statistical analysis of data about atmospheric discharges and other expertises in the area of atmospheric discharges.
