FIELDS OF WORK OF THE DEPARTMENT FOR ENERGY AND POWER SYSTEM PLANNING The responsibility of the Energy and Power System Planning (EPSP) Department is long-term planning of power systems. Its research work is done for the following five fields: general energy and demand-meeting forecast, strategic development documents for the energy economy, electricity generation planning, distributed electricity generation, electricity quality, electric power system element modelling, FACTS equipment, over-voltages in distribution and transmission systems, analyses of stationary, dynamic and transient phenomena, short circuits, industrial network analysis and planning, reactive power compensation, filtering equipment design, loss minimisation in the distribution network, possibilities for introducing new power sources into the electric power system, general planning of distribution networks, financial, cost and comparative analyses of energy utilities' business operations.
